Strains Angklung Under Snow Sweden
In harmony with the maxim Deep in the eyes close in heart. Distance and temperature difference did not become an excuse to further foster a sense of love of the homeland. Even the blizzard with the temperature hit -10 degrees Celsius which is not thrilling Gothenburg City residents and students the spirit of Indonesia to promote Indonesian culture to the citizens of Sweden.
On December 4, 2010, the Association of Indonesian Community Culture
(PKMI / Indonesiska Kulturforeningen) in cooperation with the Association of Student
Indonesia in Sweden (Swedish PPI) is also supported by the Embassy of the Republic
Indonesia in Sweden held a celebration Indonesien Night 2010 in the City
Gothenburg, Sweden.
This event takes the theme of “Instruments of Indonesia” to celebrate angklung recognition as world cultural heritage by UNESCO. Concert angklung “Manuk Dadali” by students of Indonesian Students Association in Sweden (Swedish PPI) also participated in fulfilling event.
“Last year batik, angklung this year, the world recognize the richness of Indonesian culture
and Indonesia as a nation we should be grateful, “said Alwania Forssen,
PKMI chairman, citizen who has lived in Sweden for 15 years.
In this event, Reza Ningtyas Lindh, Swedish Idol top five finalist in 2009, also contributed several songs like “Son of a Preacher Man” and “Rainbow.” Then the Indonesian students from the city of Lund and Boras also contributed songs.
In addition, residents who have long settled in Sweden have also contributed
events such as dances, songs and games. Then in the middle also made fund-raising event for victims of disasters in Wasior, Nias, and Yogyakarta.
“As a form of solidarity and love of the homeland, we try to contribute as much as possible although far in the overseas” said Ibrahm Kholilul Rahman, Coordinator PPI Sweden. From the collection of funds collected in the range of 1900 Kronor Rp 2.4 million and immediately disbursed to Indonesia.
